This is the Kings Lynn Climbing Club site for people who climb or want to try climbing inside or outside.

We have regular climbing trips around Britain and maybe abroad.

We have a club night every Wednesday at the Hangar at Lynnsport/Alive Leisure from 7 pm till 10 pm.

The Hangar has undergone a fantastic re-paint and is now going through some route setting. At the moment it is still being set but anyone who climbs and has been to the club and wants to help set routes then come down this Wednesday.

Even though we just had our last Official outside climbing trip, there are always still opportunities for us to get out. We've seen some members really progressing within the last year. It's been great watching the progress.

We are always looking for more people to join us on Wednesdays. We can show anyone the ropes if they want to learn. We're a friendly bunch of guys and gals and there's usually someone climbing somewhere most nights, outside of club night.

Aprils group trip to Stanage.

A few photos from the first trip of 2017, back to the gritstone of the Peak District.

I shan’t give a running comment on the weekend, except to say that there were high highs and low lows, but I believe we all had fun at one time or another. Enjoy the good memories and I look forward to the camp fire retelling of the hopefully wildly exaggerated stories on future trips.

Sunday started with a breakdown and ice-cream so, pretty uneventful for this weekend, then Ben and Rob got to bouldering in the sunshine.

Photo selection has been edited to exclude all bodily fluids and thus ensure a U rating for greater public viewing.

Hope you’re all firmly on the mend.

Shelley.

An April weekend in The Peak District.

This was my first weekend away camping and climbing with you and I would very much like to say, thank you!

It may well have been a little cold at times, but nothing we couldn't handle.

Thank you Kings Lynn Climbing Club, for being such a friendly and welcoming group. An excellent weekend was had in Derbyshire.

It may well have been a little cold at times, but nothing that a few layers didn’t sort out.

There were bumps and scrapes at Stanage, ice on, and in the tents and a near disaster with a dropped pudding, but the day had sunshine, great company and challenging climbing. Simply perfect.

Oh, and for those of you that are concerned, yes, the pudding was saved, and apparently quite delicious!

Club night at the Hangar

Tonight’s challenge is who can complete all bouldering problems in the Hangar cave.

We also have a black route going over the roof for leading.

Usual time 7pm.

Climbing tonight

We have been busy in the bouldering room at the weekend. Now we have a fresh selection of routes with a range a bit harder than previous.

We have most of the routes making use of the roof at least for hands, a couple of circuits including an easy black with new huge holds. Also a harder blue route for people who want to push themselves.

The grade range is from about 5 to 6b.

Down in the roped section we have 4 new routes. Three with black and one purple.

Come try them out.

Climbing this week.

Here we are almost two months into 2016 with lots to look forward to. We have dates set for outdoor trips and a whole week for part of August in an as yet to be decided location, but possibles could be north Wales or the Lake district.

We have a new shiny graphic for the club made by a talented graphic artist LT.

We have started the Monday group again so anyone who wants to train more than once a week can come along on Mondays from about 7pm.

Wednesdays still has a strong core of regulars and a steady influx of new people wanting to try it. There are new arrangements for anyone new to climbing and wanting to try it out. Those that do should get sorted at the reception where you will need to ask for a harness to use for a free deposit.

We also have weekly challenges we set for ourselves if anyone wants to push themselves. They are not always straightforward but they are interesting and you will need to think and have some determination. This week is feet only on the slab in the corner left of the door. Previous have been chimney without holds.

This coming weekend will be more rerouteing. The bouldering cave will be getting a strip down, paint and re route, so anyone who can come help out can. Any help will be appreciated.

I’m back training again after my hernia and elbow injury and I aim to get as strong as possible and I have loads I want to do, inside and outside, if anyone wants to join me.

Rob

KLimbers Re-launch The Hangar

A Media Release.

After a recent revamp and reroute The Hangar Climbing Centre is once again open for business at Alive Lynnsport.

To get the wall repainted requires the 70+ routes and several hundred holds to be taken down, cleaned and rerouted.  This is a huge task and requires a real team effort to perform. Dan Beckett our lead Climbing Instructor has worked extremely hard to get the wall ready for reopening but couldn’t have completed the task without the help form the King Lynn Climbing Club The KLimbers.

The KLimbers spent endless hours in a harness rerouting the wall ensuring there are a mixture of routes that challenge new climbers and experienced climbers alike. The club have been instrumental in the reopening of the Climbing Centre and as a token of our appreciation on Wednesday 2nd December Alive Leisure are donating the recently formed climbing club £100.

The climbing club takes place every Wednesday from 7-10pm at Alive Lynnsport for more information please visit http://www.aliveleisure.co.uk/alive-lynnsport/activities/climbing.  In addition to the adult club we also hold a junior club every Thursday night for 8-16 year olds.  Whether you are an experienced climber or have never climbed off the ground, both clubs provide a fantastic indoor climbing experience with qualified climbing instructors on hand.

If you are looking to get into climbing why not treat yourself to an early Christmas present!  Sign up to a month to month Unlimited Climbing membership for only £24 a month or add climbing on to your Alive Fitness membership for £12 a month and get a free Climbing Induction worth £10.60!

For more information on the climbing clubs or the climbing Christmas membership deals please call 01553 818001.  If you would like to join The KLimbers or get in contact with them please visit http://www.klimbers.net/
